Aleksander Yakovlevich Rosenbaum is a Russian poet, musician, actor, public figure and doctor.

He was born on September 13, 1951 in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg). His parents studied at the same course of the First Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) State Medical Institute (University) named after I. P. Pavlov. Father Yakov Shmaryevich Rosenbaum was a urologist, mother Sofya Semenovna Milyaeva was an obstetrician-gynecologist. Interestingly, little Sasha learned to read from medical textbooks. In addition to secondary school, he graduated from music school in piano and violin. He mastered the guitar on his own. Subsequently it became his favorite instrument.

In 1968-1974, A.Ya. Rosenbaum, like his father and mother, studied at the First Leningrad Medical Institute. In 1974, he graduated from the institute with honors and received a diploma of a general practitioner. His main specialty was anesthesiology and intensive care, and his place of work was the First Ambulance Substation in Leningrad. Rosenbaum's younger brother Vladimir also worked as an ambulance doctor, but unfortunately died early.

In his family life Alexander also repeated the fate of his parents, marrying a classmate Elena Viktorovna Savshinskaya, who later became a radiologist at the psychiatric hospital No. 3 in St. Petersburg. They had a daughter Anna (currently lives abroad, has a degree in philology and translation).

A.J. Rosenbaum worked as a doctor for 6 years and still made a choice in favor of music, but still treats his colleagues with great warmth. He loves his native St. Petersburg with all his soul and has dedicated many wonderful works to it. During the Afghan and Chechen campaigns, he gave concerts in hospitals more than once, and his songs about War, Life and Death, human pain, love and separation continue to be relevant, and the lines of these (and other) poems do not lose their depth, even when disconnected from music…
